Every year, we get better and better at providing simple, burden-free user experiences. This year, there have been some major developments in the field.

To sum up 2014, here are some of my favorite articles and blog posts published.
 

1.No Bottom Line?  No Experience: Finding the Balance Between User Needs and Business Needs

This article by the staff at UX Magazine outlines what they call the “poetry” of user design. Using UX examples from some of the biggest businesses in the world, you’ll see just what they mean.
 

2. What Testing Won’t Tell You

Let’s face it, the manner in which we relate with digital products tend to change as time progresses. UX also changes over time. Here are some facts by Lynsey Thornton on some of the flaws that UX testing will not tell you.
 

3. Beyond the UX Tipping Point

In Jared Spool’s article he addresses the much anticipated Disney Magic band as the biggest user experience story of 2014. His convincing article outlines just how Disney’s Magic Band takes them beyond the UX tipping point.
 

4. UX Design Triggers to Capture Users and Improve Sales

This article by Viktor Bogdanov outlines the ways in which you can improve sales by using strategic design. From visual metaphors as cues to “chunking,” this article offers an excellent overview of design triggers sure to boost your UX.
 

5.The User Experience Checklist

Finally in this article we outline the UE checklist. From simplification to content and clarity, these items will help you build a UE strategy that works.
